Lillian Chase: Playing Favorites
In 2016, Lillian received the Young Artist Award from The Acadia Festival of Traditional Music & Dance, allowing her to record her first album, Lillian Chase: Playing Favorites, at the age of 13.
The album was recorded and produced by John Doyle, and was recorded in Asheville in the cozy home of John Herrmann.
Playing Favorites features many of Lillian’s musical influences and mentors, including Bruce Molsky, Bobby Hicks, Arvil Freeman, and Riley Baugus, as well as an array of local players who shaped her musical growth.
Square Deal
Square Deal was a short but sweet band experience that materialized after the group was accepted to play on the IBMA Youth Stage in 2021.
Square Deal consisted of Gus and Huck Tritsch, then 17 and 15 years old, and Lillian and Sara Nell Chase, who were also 17 and 15 years old at the time.
The band featured a strong double fiddle groove and a powerful rhythm section of guitar and bass.
Truffle Creek
Truffle Creek was a Boston-based contra dance band, comprised of Lillian Chase (fiddle), Cecily Mills (cello), and Jonah Spear (guitar).
